PCM3060 24bit audio codec from TI

Texas Instruments Inc. has introduced a 24bit audio codec that supports asynchronous operation, allowing the ADC and DAC to operate with independent clocks.

The PCM3060 asynchronous audio codec is aimed at systems in which audio signals often need to be decoded and encoded at separate sampling rates. Applications include DVD/Blu-Ray/HD DVD recorders, DTVs, digital STBs and car navigation systems.

The PCM3060 offers design flexibility. The DAC outputs can be configured as either single-ended or differential for better noise immunity.

The PCM3060 codec enables designers to select the control method among modes of three-wire SPI, two-wire I?C or hardware control, depending on the application and system design requirements.

The PCM3060 codec can be internally set to synchronous mode where the ADC or the DAC clock can be selected as the clocking source when only one clock is required.

The PCM3060 has low jitter sensitivity and a high SNR of 105dB to provide high audio performance, even in asynchronous mode and for applications or clocks sources with high jitter.

Pricing is $1.95 each in 1,000-piece quantities. The codec is available in a 28-pin TSSOP Pb-free package.
