Toshiba Matsushita Display Technology Co. Ltd (TMD) and Toshiba America Electronic Components Inc. (TAEC) have developed six new modules of industrial-use TFT LCDs. The new products include a 12.1-inch SVGA (800 x 600) panel with an ultrahigh brightness of 1,000cd/m? for improved viewability for vending machines, ticket dispensers or other equipment installed outdoors.
Toshiba added 3.5-inch and 5.7-inch QVGA (320 x 240) modules with enhanced resolution and replaceable LED backlights for use in measuring instruments and handheld computing devices. The company also expanded its SVGA and WVGA lines with high-brightness 10.4-inch and lightweight 8.4-inch SVGA modules and a 7.0-inch WVGA (800 x 480) widescreen module.
Each LCD module has been designed so that they can be equipped with an optional resistive touch panel. The displays meet the requirements of the European Union's RoHS Directive.
TMD will exhibit the newly developed modules at the 10th Embedded Systems Technology Expo & Conference in Tokyo and the 2007 SID (Society for Information Display) International Symposium in California later this month.
The 3.5-inch (LTA035A350F) and 5.7-inch (LTA057A340F) modules are priced at $200; the 7-inch (LTA070A320F) is priced at $300; the 8.4-inch (LTA084C191F) and 10.4-inch (LTA104D182F) modules are priced at $500, and the 12.1-inch (LTD121C35S) is priced at $700.
All of the new LCD modules are available now with the exception of the 8.4-inch module, which rolls out in the third quarter of 2007.
