SMK's JSS series single-side momentary switches, right direction parts

SMK announced the availability and shipment of samples of the JSS series slide switch (single-side momentary), right direction parts.

The new devices have a sliding action in the right direction, the reverse of the previous left direction models. According SMK, the right direction type products also feature the momentary action (spring-back system) mechanism found in the previous left direction models, which helps prevent equipment malfunction. With a reverse direction operation, the new devices enable more diverse equipment design.

Simulation designing has optimized the performance and configuration of the coil spring, extending its life to 100,000 cycles from the previous 20,000 cycles for lengthened equipment reliability. Holding the operation force down to 1.2N from previous 2N (60 percent of the previous force) improves equipment operability.

Other product features include a rating of 0.1A, 5V DC and feature an operating force of 1.2N 0.4N. The new devices also have a stroke of 2.5mm 0.15mm and external dimensions measuring 10.4-by-3-by-1.8mm.

Applications include mobile phones, digital portable audio equipment and other small portable equipment.

The products are sampling this month, with production expected to start in June. Volume pricing for the devices will start at $2.48.
