A software development kit from Opera Software ASA is available for Texas Instruments' DaVinci development platform for streaming media devices.

The use of Opera's browser as a user interface can provide TI's customers with a level of customization, Opera Software said. The Opera browser is used in the Nintendo Wii and DS systems and Sony's Mylo STB.

DaVinci is a system of processors, software, tools and support for digital streaming applications.

"A Web browser is a crucial component for our customers for both browsing and to bring Web 2.0 to networked consumer electronics," said Huy Pham, SoC marketing executive at TI.

"Together, we enable high performance web browsing and applications in your hand, on your TV, or in your car," said Scott Hedrick, executive VP for devices at Opera Software.
