Low-cost power supply adapters are CEC compliant

Phihong USA has developed a series of California Energy Commission (CEC)-compliant universal power supply adapters as a low-cost replacement for non-compliant linear adapters. The PLA series meets CEC Tier IV required for 2008, Energy Star regulations and other worldwide safety and EMC requirements, and is RoHS compliant.

The PLA series linear replacement adapters are available at a lower cost than traditional switching adapters because they have eliminated the control and feedback circuits and components, said Phihong. In addition, the adapter only uses one primary control circuit.

The PLA series devices are available as fixed wall plugs (1.3W, 2W, 3W and 5W). The adapters feature high efficiency, double insulation and have short circuit protection with auto recovery. The devices have a no-load power consumption of less than 0.3W, zero minimum load and meet the minimum efficiency required by Energy Star and CEC. They offer a wide input voltage range of 90-264Vac.

The 1W linear replacement products are priced at $3.38 each in quantities of 1,000. Delivery is from stock to 12 weeks.
