NEC LCD Technologies, along with its sales and marketing channels in the Americas and Europe, NEC Electronics America and NEC Electronics (Europe) GmbH, has introduced a 6.5-inch amorphous-silicon TFT-LCD module with high luminance and XGA resolution.

The module, part number NL10276BC13-01C, eliminates the need for an inverter circuit by using a white LED for the backlight instead of the traditionally used CCFL. This results in low power consumption and a slim design that, while lightweight, is highly resistant to vibration and impact, making it suitable for use in portable display systems in industrial applications, said NEC.

Featuring NEC LCD Technologies' proprietary super-transmissive natural light TFT (ST-NLT) technology, the module is able to display vivid colors in environments with high ambient light. In addition, since the LED backlights are free of mercury, the new module is more environmentally friendly than modules using CCFL backlights.

In addition, NEC has introduced a 15.3-inch color LCD module, part number NL12876BC26-25, with WXGA resolution

Samples of the 15.3-inch NL12876BC26-25 and 6.5-inch NL10276BC13-01C will be available at the end of June and mid-July 2007, respectively.
