Keywords:32nm process node? IMEC research? 32nm research?

Hynix Semiconductor is tying up with European research center IMEC to tackle memory challenges at the 32nm and below process nodes, including the role of both immersion and EUV lithography as well as road blocks facing flash.

Hynix is the latest to join an IMEC-led group of companies all concerned about what they will do at 32nm and beyond. Elpida, Micron, Qimonda and Samsung also collaborate within IMEC on memory manufacturing processes.

IMEC said its research into non-volatile memory picked up significant momentum in the past year, and has expanded its scope beyond floating gate and nitride memory activity lines into advanced material research, including exploration of advanced high-k dielectrics. Starting in June, Hynix engineers will join the effort.
