Fujitsu Ltd has inked a three-way pact with Fujitsu Microelectronics of America Inc. and Jazz Semiconductor Inc. to jointly manufacture SoC products targeted for RF CMOS devices.

The agreement is expected to fuse Fujitsu's 90nm and 65nm low-leakage, LSI manufacturing process with Jazz's RF and mixed-signal expertise to come up with high-performance customer-owned tooling fab services for SoC customers.

The collaboration also covers marketing and sales, and product manufacturing will be done at Fujitsu's 300mm Mie foundry in Japan.

"We are pleased to announce this agreement with Jazz, and we are confident that we will provide optimal solutions to our mutual customers," said Shigeru Fujii, corporate senior VP and group president of Fujitsu's Electronic Devices Business Group. "The wireless SoC market is becoming increasingly important. Through this collaboration, we will support customers as they expand their markets."

Jazz Technologies Inc. chairman Gil Amelio added, "The joint development model is a cost-effective approach to providing innovative manufacturing solutions." Jazz Semiconductor is a wholly owned unit of Jazz Technologies.
