Macronix International Co. Ltd and Infineon spin-off Qimonda AG have reportedly agreed to collaborate on the development of flash technology, a Digitimes report said.

The report quoted Macronix chairman Miin Wu saying that the two companies may sign an agreement after the Taiwan memory maker's investors conference in late June. Negotiations over the collaboration, which is set to cover all technology involving non-volatile memory and PSRAM, started a year ago, Wu revealed.

According to the Digitimes report, the signing of the agreement may have been scheduled to follow the investors conference because the event is expected to be turbulent, as the present Macronix management may have to parry a likely move by Powerchip Semiconductor Corp. to take control of the company.
