Mobile TV chip specialist DiBcom has developed a PC chipset for high-quality digital TV reception.
The DIB7770 integrates on a single IC an embedded RF tuner combined with a demodulator linked to a USB 2.0 bridge. The so-called "three-in-one" solution was developed to make possible the design of small and affordable USB 2.0 TV accessories that enable digital terrestrial Television (DTT)/DVB-T reception on a PC, the company said.
The integration of the DIB7770 chipset goes beyond the main functions (tuner, demodulator and USB bridge) and includes SAW filters and other discrete components.
The Paris-based company noted that the receivers, thanks to their linearity and sensitivity, "surpass the Nordig2 and MBRAI specification with a very low power consumption of less than 500mW" that are suitable not only for digital terrestrial reception (DTT/DVB-T) on PCs but also for ultramobile PCs or portable media players.
