Sanyo, MediaTek settle patent dispute
Keywords:patent infringement? semiconductor chips? dispute settlement?
Sanyo Electric Co. and MediaTek Inc. have agreed to dismiss their patent lawsuits over chips and DVD players, Bloomberg reported.
Sanyo's lawyer, Craig Hentschel, declined comment on the settlement, noting confidentiality of the agreement terms. His counterpart, Stephen Korniczky, also said that MediaTek had no immediate comment.
Sanyo, a world leader in battery technology, took the Taiwan IC design house to a U.S. federal court in April 2005 over alleged infringement of its patents on semiconductors used in consumer electronics. MediaTek countersued months later, claiming Sanyo infringed on patents of its audio decoder technology for DVD recorders, DTVs and mobile handhelds.
