Network platform enables next-gen data migration

Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd unveils its OptiX OSN6800/3800 V100R001product, an OTN/ASON-based intelligent multi-service WDM platform that enables network operators' traditional voice-oriented transport networks to migrate to next generation data-oriented ones.

The product is designed for network operators who require a flexible, cost-effective system that will multiplex, transport and switch high-speed data, storage, video and voice. It provides an integrated, cost effective and manageable platform supporting multiple services, network topologies and transparency protocols in metro and regional networks.

The OTN/ASON-based intelligent WDM platform enables transparency access, large capacity transport, flexible grooming, adequate protection, easy management and GMPLS intelligent features.

The platform features an adapting multi-protocol wavelength that enables transparent access for services based on various protocols and of all kinds of bit-rates. It also offers a flexible electrical layer grooming, dynamic optical layer grooming and L2 switching which enables flexible networking. By providing optical layer protection, electrical layer protection and mesh network protection, the device offers higher reliability than other platforms available, said Huawei.

The platform also reduces OPEX effectively by providing the management capability like SDH with OTN technology. It also features integrated GMPLS intelligent control plane, which is scalable to intelligent optical network as well as large capacity and long hop transport.

The device can have several network configurations: point-to-point, ring, star and mesh network topologies. It uses a power supply of 1+1 -48/-60Vdc (-38.4V to -72Vdc), 1+1 220V AC input.

The OptiX OSN 6800/3800 V100R001 device is now available.
