Tool features enhancements for CDMA2000 testing

Anritsu Corp. launches an improved CDMA2000 solution for the MD8470A signaling tester that simulates base stations to support the development and testing of mobile terminal applications. The new solution, the MX70260B CDMA2000 Scenario Composer, supports more efficient creation of test scenarios for the CDMA2000 mobile terminal testing system.

In addition to CDMA2000 1X compliant mobile terminals, MX702600B can create test scenarios for the CDMA2000 standard up to version 1xEV-DO Rev. A, allowing faster high-speed packet data communications. It also supports test scenarios using BCMCS. Based on one of the CDMA2000 1xEV-DO Rev. A functions, the software supports creation of BCMCS-compatible test scenarios, enabling multicasting (simultaneous transmission of data to multiple users).

Until now, creating a test scenario for flexible simulation of the operations of a CDMA2000 base station on the MD8470A required significant effort by an engineer fluent in 3GPP2 protocols, Perl and the MD8470A specifications.

The MX702600B software supports improved efficiency in creating test scenarios for the MD8470A by incorporating a GUI. Test sequences are created by simple PC mouse or keyboard operations and translated into a signaling tester-compliant test scenario output to the MD8470A. Moreover, the software contributes to higher test quality by allowing the test sequence to be visually verified as it is being created, preventing programming errors. Test sequences created by the software are translated into Perl and output to the MD8470A.

Software features
Test scenario specification sheets commonly express protocol progressions using ladder sequences. The MX702600B software allows test scenarios to be created and edited as if the user is designing a ladder sequence. This format enables test scenarios to be created without knowing Perl and the MD8470A application programming interface.

Moreover, test sequences can be assembled and edited simply and efficiently due to the inclusion of a wide-range of composing and editing functions, such as copy and paste, for creating a series of test sequences or defining messages.

The software includes many sample test sequences for voice and data communications and various handoff states that can be used as templates, substantially reducing test scenario development time. Anritsu plans to offer more downloads of sample sets in the future.

The MX702600B software allows the actions of the PPP server during an interactive session to be defined by the ladder sequences. Moreover, the MD8470A includes a built-in PPP server simulation. Consequently, there is no need to set-up an external PPP servernormal and quasi-normal test sequences can be composed for data-communication testing of mobile terminals.

The new solution is now available.
