Texas-based Lonestar Inventions LP has sued Nintendo Co. Ltd over the latter's alleged illegal use of one of Lonestar's patents in the Nintendo Wii game console, according to a Reuters report.

In the complaint filed at a Texas district court, Lonestar claimed Nintendo's U.S. unit has infringed on one of its patents, which covers technology that boosts semiconductor performance.

Nintendo, maker of the popular Wii game console, is checking on the content of the suit, spokeman Ken Toyoda said.

The Texas semiconductor device company has also sued other companies over the same patent. Court records show that Lonestar filed a suit against Eastman Kodak Co. earlier this month, as well as Freescale Semiconductor Inc. and Agere Systems Inc. in January.
