China's Ministry of Information Industry has approved the construction of a state-level industry park in the Xinzhuang area, which is expected to become the center of domestic-made flat screens, according to a report from ShanghaiDaily.com.
With a total investment of $6 billion, the Xinzhuang Industrial Park will have material and parts providers, two TFT-LCD production lines and flat screen buyers such as LCD TV manufacturers and notebook producers.
The SVA Group, the park's major producer, entered a joint venture with NEC and built the first 5G panel production line on the mainland and began mass production of its 15-inch displays for laptops in October 2005.
The group announced June 19 that it will establish a 6G LCD panel plant, which will adopt the most advanced technology in domestic LCD industry to enable makers to provide LCD TVs of 32-40 inches, the report said.
In addition, China's top three LCD panel makers?SVA, Beijing-based BOE Technology Group and Jiangsu Province-based IVO?will reportedly set up a joint venture to be announced by the end of June if successful.
