STMicroelectronics NV has released a new set of flash MCUs that promises to deliver optimized system performance. The six additions to the 32bit ARM9-based STR910F family have Ethernet, USB and CAN interfaces as well as on-chip SRAM up to 96Kbytes and flash memory up to 544Kbytes.

In an Autobench test suite from the Embedded Microprocessor Benchmark Consortium (EEMBC), the STR910FA registered "an average of 25 percent better than those of the STR910F, indicating improved overall system performance due to improved flow of instructions to the CPU." According to EEMBC, the STR910FA also registered an average performance gain of 36 percent over competing flash ARM7-based MCUs for the same Autobench tests.

All devices operate between -40C and 85C, ST concluded.

Prices for ST's new STR910F MCU series start at $4.98 in quantities of 10,000.
