Connectors with HDMI

Tyco Electronics expands its portfolio with the release of two next-generation connectors integrating HDMI technology.

The connectors with HDMI technology over eSATA combines two industry standards in a compact, PCB space saving package, said Tyco Electronics. Each of the discrete ports meets the current industry specifications for HDMI (version 1.3) and eSATA.

Playing off the success of this eSATA connector, Tyco Electronics also offers a stacked connector incorporating HDMI technology. With many of the same design features and tooling of the eSATA connector, the stacked connector meets current needs of multiple-port HDMI devices. With the expectation of high-end game consoles, HDMI stereo receivers and HD camcorders with Mini HDMI capability driving HDMI port proliferation, Tyco Electronics' stacked connector, like USB, is a popular option.

"The packaging of today's consumer devices is driving more and more connector consolidation," said product manager, Eric Himelright. "Tyco Electronics is pleased to offer our connector platforms incorporating HDMI technology over eSATA and stacked to address these board real estate concerns, while at the same time offering the performance customers expect."
