Maxim Integrated Products introduces the MAX13042E-MAX13045E high-speed, four-channel, bidirectional level translators with 15kV ESD protection on I/O Vcc lines.

These devices provide the level shifting necessary for high-speed data transfer in multivoltage systems by operating with VL voltages from 1.62V to 3.2V and Vcc voltages from 2.2V to 3.6V. Over these operating-voltage ranges, the MAX13042E-MAX13045E devices provide a guaranteed data rate of 100Mbps with external push-pull or open-drain drivers that source as little as 4mA output current.

Offering low-voltage operation and ESD protection in a tiny, 1.54-by-2.12mm UCSP, these bidirectional level translators are well-suited for high-speed data transfer between low-voltage ASICs/PLDs and higher voltage systems.

The MAX13042E-MAX13045E increase design flexibility through their ability to operate at full speed with external drivers that source as low as 4mA output current. Their compatibility with both push-pull and open-drain drivers is enabled by a pass-gate architecture and by the integration of internal current sources that are capable of sourcing 30mA to pull up the I/O lines.

The bidirectional level translators are fully specified over the extended temperature range (-40C to 85C). They are available in tiny, 3-by-3mm, 14-pin TDFN and 1.54-by-2.12mm, 12-bump UCSP packages. Prices start at $1.20 for 1,000-unit quantities.
