Adcore-Tech Co. Ltd, a joint venture of NEC Corp., NEC Electronics Corp., Matsushita Electric Industrial, Panasonic Mobile Communications and Texas Instruments Inc., has succeeded in developing a new W-CDMA 3.5G digital baseband technology.

The new technology marks the completion of a new communications platform for mobile handsets, which the company has started licensing to partner companies for development of mobile handset communications chips.

The licensed architecture employs multiple small-scale DSPs to simultaneously achieve high peak performance, low power consumption, low cost and high portability. It further supports the evolution of mobile handsets with higher communication speed and enhanced functionality, by providing a robust solution extendable to HSDPA and HSUPA, and a design that minimizes mutual interference between existing systems such as GSM and future systems such as LTE.

The JV company was formed July 2006 to facilitate the quick and efficient development of increasingly sophisticated communications technology for mobile handsets targeting 3G/3.5G and beyond, and contribute to the advancement of the mobile handset industry at large.
