Samsung Electronics Co. announced it has sealed a cross-licensing agreement on patents with wireless network maker LM Ericsson.

This is according to an Associate Press report, which stated that a Samsung filing with South Korea's financial regulator indicated that the deal allows both companies to use each other's patents covering 2G and 3G wireless technologies. The filing added that the companies will withdraw all patent-related lawsuits filed against each other.

Samsung spokesperson Lee Soo-jeong disclosed that the companies had been engaged in patent litigation on 2G and 3G technologies but she did not provide any other details, including how many lawsuits had been pending.

The South Korea-based company said both companies decided not to publicly disclose certain information in the agreement.
