Kemet Corp. has released two new small-case polymer capacitors. Recognizing the demand for smaller devices in portable consumer electronics, Kemet has implemented advancements in its KO-CAP Polymer Capacitor design to allow for increased volumetric efficiency within the component, resulting in more than 100 percent gain in active area.

Combining these advancements in design with the KO-CAP advanced polymer processing system can yield the highest capacitance-to-case-size offering available in the industry today and the lowest ESR, said Kemet.

Designated the T528 series, the new products are available in the low-profile I-Case size (3.2mm x 1.6mm x 1mm) and M-Case (3.5mm x 2.8mm x 1.5mm). The I-Case is available in values from 100?F at 3V to 33?F at 10V with ESR offerings from 150- to 200m. The M-Case size is available in values from 330?F at 3V to 100?F at 10V with ESR offerings from 150- to 200 m.

KO-CAPs are commonly used for decoupling and filtering in power management applications where space is restricted including cellphones, notebooks, digital cameras, music players and flat panel displays.
