Omron Electronic Components LLC has introduced the D3SH series of ultrasmall, low-profile detection switches. The surface-mount switches measure 3.4mm x 3mm x 0.9mm and weigh 0.02g. These devices are used in presence/absence applications to detect location with an on-off signal. Applications include mobile phone cover position, digital camera lens and viewfinder position, portable audio devices, gaming machines and computer peripherals.

The D3SH is available in SPST-NO or SPST-NC contact configurations with a rating of 1mA at 5Vdc. A unique mechanism enables high contact reliability and precision operation, said Omron. In addition, the switches exhibit high shock and vibration resistance over the operating temperature range of -25C to 85C in 60 percent humidity without icing or condensation.

These D3SH switches are available in right or left operating direction, with standard levers (1.6mm travel) or long levers (2.1mm travel) and can be shipped with or without a locating boss. They offer a minimum life expectancy of 100,000 operations and are RoHS compliant.

Pricing for the D3SH detection switch is at 55 cents each at 100,000 pieces and is available in reels of 1,000 pieces. Delivery is stock to eight weeks. Free engineering samples and a complete set of technical data are also available.
