Jazz adopts Cadence RF, AMS design kits

Jazz Semiconductor Inc. has put its faith behind two of Cadence Design Systems Inc.'s design kits, offering its customers a more streamlined design cycle and faster time-to-market.

The leader in specialty RF and analog foundry solutions said it teamed up with the EDA provider on silicon validation using Cadence's RF Design Methodology and Analog Mixed-Signal (AMS) Methodology Kits, application-specific design and methodology kits based on the Cadence Virtuoso custom design platform.

Jazz's AMS Process Design Kits now support the Cadence technology. The cooperation is expected to also encompass the Jazz SiGe 0.13mm process family shortly. With support for both the RF and AMS Kits, Cadence said that joint customers have access to RF, analog and digital design technology to help them produce a compact design of complex mixed-signal chips.

"With this collaboration, RF and analog chip designers will have the necessary tools, PDK, and standard cell-library enablement to achieve shorter, more predictable design cycles by ensuring that silicon performance matches design intent for complex mixed-signal applications."

Craig Johnson, corporate VP for marketing and strategy at Cadence, welcomed Jazz's choice, saying, "With the combination of Cadence RF Design and AMS Methodology Kits and Jazz's PDKs, our mutual customers greatly increase their chances of achieving first-silicon success."
