Pls Programmierbare Logik & Systeme GmbH has developed a new debug tool suite that fits Infineon Technologies AG's new XC2300 MCU family.

Infineon designers have already used the development tools to test new chips and develop software drivers and sample applications, says pls.

The modular component-based Universal Debug Engine 2.0.12 and the Universal Access Device 2 platform support the safety-critical automotive features of the XC2300 family. For instance, the developer can decide which pins of the chip to configure as JTAG debug interfaces. In addition, the MCU can be booted up under control of the debugger program that enables rapid updating of flash memory.

The development system communicates with the target system via CAN, JTAG and serial interfaces with the JTAG bus controller as well as the CAN bus controller implemented in hardware, pls said.

"In times when product life cycles become shorter and time-to-market is a critical factor, the availability of development and test tools can be critical for the market success of a product," said Heiko Riesland, product marketing manager at the Germany-based tool vendor.
