'First' multiformat video decoding processor debuts

Shanghai Jade Technologies Co. Ltd has launched its X900 multimedia application processor designed for use in mobile phones, handheld information terminals, mobile TV and IPTV applications.
Claimed to be the world's first multiformat hardware video decoding mobile processor, the X900 chip supports the sophisticated video compression formats such as MPEG-4, H.264 and VC-1.
The X900 optimizes power management and requires only 30mW to decode high-quality D1 H.264 or VC-1 video at 30fps. The X900 device includes a full suite of data and memory card interfaces and is a complete mobile video, mobile phone and PDA hardware platform.
According to the company, X900 enables unprecedented processing speed and next-generation mobile video quality. The solution offers higher performance, more innovative features and lower power consumption than current silicon solutions.
During the launch of X900, Jade Tech demonstrated a new series of smart phones, handheld information terminals and video surveillance products developed with its partners.
