Keywords:green cars? Japan cars? European carmakers?

European automakers, which occupy a leading position in the global automobile industry, are losing their green edge and getting beaten by Japanese hybrid automobile makers, according to a poll of EE Times Europe readers.

In the poll 63 percent of the respondents said Europe was getting beaten by Japanese carmakers. Toyota is notable for its Prius hybrid vehicle, which combines both petroleum and electrical motive power. Some 28 percent of the respondents did not accept that Europe automobiles are less green that Japan's and 9 percent said they did not know.
