Digi-Key, DeLorme ink GPS distribution pact

Digi-Key Corp. and DeLorme have entered a global distribution agreement for GPS receiver modules and evaluation kits.

Provider of mapping and GPS solutions for both consumer and professional markets, DeLorme recently entered the OEM market with the release of its GPS2056-10 GPS receiver module.

The DeLorme GPS2056-10 module is a high sensitivity, low power, SMD-type 12-channel GPS receiver designed for a broad spectrum of OEM applications. The module is said to offer everything needed to integrate the GPS receiver into a system and achieve fast time to marketdesigners simply need to add an antenna, power source and host connection. The GPS2056 evaluation kit can be used for product evaluation and testing, development, as a reference design or a complete navigation system. These products are stocked by and are available for direct purchase from Digi-Key.

For DeLorme, the distribution agreement marks a major step in the advancement of the company's OEM GPS Module program. "Our partnership with Digi-Key is an important element of our strategy to bring new OEM GPS products to market," said Brian Stearns, product manager for GPS Modules at DeLorme. "Digi-Key plays an essential role for our customers when they need support for both small quantity and full volume production release."
