Toshiba America Electronic Components Inc. (TAEC) has introduced the compact high-efficiency white LEDs dubbed the TLWK1100B that delivers luminous intensity levels of up to 2, 000mcd (maximum) and 1,500mcd from a drive current of only 20mA (typical value).

Developed by Toshiba Corp., the TLWK1100B LED delivers luminous intensity levels of 1,500mcd from a drive current of only 20mA (typical value). The robust design makes it suitable for automotive lighting designs, LCD backlighting, panel indicators and the replacement of incandescent bulbs in certain lighting applications.

Chromaticity coordinates of the white LED id Cx : 0.3 Cy : 0.3. The device also offers a viewing angle 120 (typ.).

TLWK1100B is available in a standard PLCC2 surface-mount package that measures 3.2mm x 2.9mm x 1.9mm. The LED's high brightness white light output is a result of a combination of a blue InGaN LED and yellow-emitting phosphor. The device offers efficient operation with maximum power dissipation of just 114mW and typical forward voltage of 3.2V. Operating temperature ranges from -40C to 100C.

TLWK1100B white LEDs are available now, with samples priced at 60 cents each for volume quantities.
