USB audio controller suits VoIP telephony

Winbond Electronics Corp. America has launched the W681308, the latest addition to its family of USB audio controllers for the fastest-growing area of the VoIP telephony market. The device can be designed in all application segments of Skype or other PC-based VoIP systems to speed design time and time-to-market, increase system reliability and lower system cost.

The W681308 chip is USB 2.0-compatible and integrates a fast 8051 MCU that enables feature-rich applications. The part also has 8/16/48kHz sampling rate wideband codec with a 16bit ADC/DAC and acoustic echo cancellation and AGC to support USB speaker phone applications. The solution also supports full-duplex echo cancellation, 3-channel PCM mixer, integrated microphone amplifier and speaker driver, flexible OTP custom programming and complete reference design solutions. The high integration of the W681308 enables lower cost and smaller board space design.

The W681308 is available in a 48-pin LQFP Pb-free package for $1.80 at 10,000 quantities. A complete software development kit and 8051-based Keil C development system for these parts are also available.
