PWM controller targets notebook PC systems

Anpec has announced the APW7108 dual-channel PWM controller that delivers high efficiency precision voltage regulation from two synchronous buck DC/DC converters. The device is designed to provide power regulation for chipsets, graphics and other system electronics in notebook PCs.

The APW7108 features output voltage range of 0.9V to 5.5V with 1 percent reference voltage accuracy. The PWM controller also has wide input voltage range capability for voltage conversion directly from AC/DC adaptor or Li-ion battery pack.

The APW7108 integrates whole protections into a single package. The soft-start prevents the output voltage from overshoot as well as limiting the input inrush current. The output voltage will ramp down following the SOFT voltage when soft-stop is enabled. The over current protection monitors the output current by using the voltage drop across the lower MOSFET's Rds(on).

In addition, the device offers under voltage and over voltage protections. The APW7108 can also select to operate in Forced PWM or automatic PFM/PWM mode, providing application flexibility for customers.

The APW7108 is available in SSOP-28 and 4x4 QFN-24 packages and operates and over -40C to 85C temperature range.
