Tundra Semiconductor Corp. has announced that its Serial RapidIO switch was selected by China-based telecom network solutions provider Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd for the latter's next-generation production systems.

According to Tundra, Huawei selected its Serial RapidIO switch because the solution is able to cluster many DSPs while keeping the processor overhead low. The Tsi568A switch offers up to 10Gbps bandwidth per link. It offers low power at 120-200mW per port, a large port count with 16x1 solution in a small 27mm x 27mm form factor, as well as ports individually configurable by width and speed to optimize intra-component connectivity.

"Tundra's scalable Serial RapidIO solution is the best fit for Huawei's next-generation system," said Marking Wangxiangjong, Huawei's product design team leader. "Our design team will work closely with Tundra's engineering team to bring industry-leading high-speed gigabit serial interconnection to this new design. "

"Tundra is committed to the expanding China market and we are pleased to partner with global leaders such as Huawei to bring new technologies to the industry," said Daniel Hoste, president and CEO of Tundra Semiconductor.
