Fairchild Semiconductor has said the FSSD06 is the first mux that supports high-voltage and dual-voltage secure digital (SD) card, secure digital I/O (SDIO) card and MMC, enabling an application's processor to multiplex between an SD card, SDIO card, MMC and peripherals. Applications include multifunctional portable devices such as GPS devices, cellphones, digital cameras, MP3 players and printers.
The secure data, two-port mux enables a 1.8V host processor to interface with high-voltage (2.7-3.6V) and dual-voltage (1.65-1.95V, 2.7-3.6V) cards, providing bidirectional communication while consuming only 1?A of battery power. In addition, the FSSD06 supports data transfer rates up to 52MHz and provides 5kV ESD protection. The device is housed in a 3.5mm x 4.5mm, 24-lead MLP package.
The FSSD06 is RoHS-compliant. These products use Pb-free terminals and have been characterized for moisture sensitivity in accordance with the Pb-free reflow requirements of the joint IPC/JEDEC standard J-STD-020.
Sampling now, the device sells for $1.36 each in quantities of 1,000. Delivery is four weeks ARO.
