Keywords:external serial ATA? eSATA PCIe controller?

Adaptec Inc. has introduced a two-port controller for external storage connectivity of PCIe equipped Windows and Linux computers. The 1225SA eSATA PCIe x1 RAID controller targets small office and home office networks relying on external direct attached storage for workstations and entry-level servers.

Fully tested to ensure compatibility with the majority of third-party systems and devices as well as all external serial ATA (eSATA) disk drives and tape drives, the 1225SA RAID controller installs in any available PCIe slot and offers two external serial ATA ports with speeds up to 3Gbps. The card is equipped with the Adaptec Storage Manager (ASM) software, and offers RAID levels 0, 1, JBOD and eSATA hot-swap compatibility.

The 1225SA enables users to easily move drives or volumes from one system to another, providing flexibility and data protection via HostRAID, an integrated RAID technology that can be configured as two individual ports with no RAID (JBOD), with RAID 0 (striping), or with RAID 1 (mirroring) and eSATA hot-swap compatibility.

Priced at $75 each, the product is now shipping and is available through worldwide distributors and resellers.
