Continuing to drive the adoption of 3Gbps video transport products, Gennum Corp. has broken the 100m barrier with its latest adaptive cable equalizer.

The GS2974B multirate equalizer achieves 120m for 3Gbps transmission, enabling broadcast equipment manufacturers to meet longer cable specifications. Gennum's GS2974B equalizer provides support for Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE) 424M, SMPTE 292M and SMPTE 259M.

In addition, the multirate GS2974B extends the cable length for HD-SDI at 1.485Gbps to 160m. Gennum attributes both cable length extensions to patent-pending changes to the key blocks within the equalizer.

Sampling now in a 16-pin QFN package; production is expected in Q4 2007.
