Deal puts DivX technology in Qualcomm video chips

DivX Inc. has announced a licensing agreement allowing Qualcomm to include DivX technology in a range of Qualcomm video-enabled chipsets. This agreement will potentially allow consumers to access high-quality DivX video on a wide range of mobile devices powered by Qualcomm chipsets.

"With the demand for mobile multimedia content growing, we remain committed to helping our customers take advantage of numerous innovative technologies, including the video features and content solutions offered by DivX," said Jason Bremner, senior director of product management for Qualcomm CDMA Technologies.

"Adding DivX to Qualcomm's product offerings will provide cutting-edge media capabilities to our mutual partners," said Kevin Hell, acting CEO of DivX Inc, "and improve the consumer experience for enjoying video on their mobile handsets."
