AMS Technologies announces the availability of 10GbE SFP+ transceivers from Optical Communication Products Inc. (OCP) designed to support several transmission protocols.

The SFP transceiver supports 10km high-density, metropolitan area networking (MAN) applications. The low power consumption of the SFP+ 10km module enables network designers to increase port capacities of 10G switches from existing larger form factors.

OCP's "SPXG" product line is compliant with the SFP+ MSA electrical (SFF-8431) and mechanical (SFF-8432) requirements to support 10GbE and Fibre Channel applications.

The SFP+ transceiver integrates a 1,310nm single mode DFB laser in a LC package and PIN receiver, satisfying the Class I Laser Safety Requirements in accordance with international IE-60825 standards.

The modules are designed for multirate applications, supporting data rates up to 11.3Gbps. The DDM functionality adheres to the SFP+ MSA, enabling the end-user to monitor key areas in the performance of the SFP+ transceiver: internal temperature, DC supply voltage, transmitter bias current, transmitter output power and receive optical signal power. Integrated DDM functionality also incorporates warnings and alarms to monitor these parameters.
