In a move that will broaden target applications for its most compact optocoupler devices, Vishay Intertechnology Inc. has announced that all of its optocouplers in the SOIC-8 package have been upgraded to offer 4,000V isolation voltages and 6,000V rated impulse voltages (VIOTM).
Designed to meet the growing need for higher-rated isolation devices in high-density applications, Vishay offers a wide variety of optocouplers in the SOIC-8 package. The devices include single-and dual-channel devices with phototransistor and photodarlington outputs, as well as high-speed devices up to 10MBd.
By offering increased isolation and impulse voltages, the devices allow designers to meet higher isolation requirements with a compact device. The SOIC-8 package requires 50 percent less board space than the SMD DIP-8, lowering costs and enabling the production of smaller end products. The SOIC-8 package also eliminates through-hole requirements and conforms to standards for surface-mount devices.
Vishay's SOIC-8 optocouplers are optimized for digital fieldbus isolation, logic and analog signal ground isolation, high-speed D/A and A/D, ATE I/O isolation and telephone ring-detect applications. Typical end products include programmable logic controllers, industrial automation equipment, instrumentation, telecom equipment and power supplies.
