Genesis Microchip Inc. has launched Douglas, its third generation HDTV SoC family that provides 10bit video quality processing, picture-in-picture channel processing, dual HDMI/HDCP 1.3a inputs, improved 3D Y/C TV decoder and full DVB-T support.

Aimed at flat-panel display applications, the Douglas ICs support full 1,080p input. The FLI10620 'Douglas-Advanced' SoC enables 1,080p output, and the pin-compatible FLI10610 'Douglas-Plus' enables WSXGA+ output. Douglas features advanced video processing such as Faroudja DCDi Cinema with per-pixel motion-adaptive de-interlacing, sharpness enhancement, noise reduction, Faroudja TrueLife Video Enhancer, and Faroudja RealColor processing for advanced color management and contrast control. Samples of the devices are available now with volume production expected to commence by the first quarter of 2008.
