Pentaband antenna handles all cellular bands

Pulse has introduced a multihybrid, pentaband internal cellular band antenna that combines 4-band GSM and W-CDMA 2100 to receive and transmit signals in all cellular bands. These antennas can be used in mobile, machine-to-machine, laptop, automotive, and all portable device applications for devices operating on GSM bands (GSM850, EGSM900, PCN1800, PCS1900) and W-CDMA 2100. They meet the need for small, high-efficiency, all cellular band antennas.

Pulse's new W3530 antenna is the smallest 5-band catalog antenna solution available in the market. It has a low profile of 40mm x 8mm x 6mm, a low volume of 1.92cm3, and a weight of 1.6g. Its wide return loss bandwidth allows placement in devices of various sizes. All operating bands are combined to a single feed point for multiband RF engines.

Pulse's ceramic technology allows for extremely small antenna size without compromising RF performance. Ceramic and sheet metal are combined in a unique way and use integrated matching circuits. The immunity of ceramic solutions to the presence of other antennas and to the head/hand effect (electromagnetic emissions that can affect antenna performance) makes these products extremely desirable solutions for small hand-held devices with multiple antennas.

All cellular antenna products are fully field tested to ensure quality and reliability. Mechanical and reliability testing is performed, and the pre-designed mechanical interface is tested prior to assembly. Electrical characterization is performed with plastic covers, a phone shell and a phantom head/hand, as though a person were actually using it. The antennas are easy to implement and match with multimode transceivers. Pulse provides customers with detailed antenna implementation guidelines regarding footprints, mechanical aspects, and contacting issues.

The W3530 antennas are part of Pulse's catalog cellular band antenna family, based on Pulse's customized antennas used in high-volume cellular handsets. They are RoHS compliant
