Varioptic SA and IVA Corp. have launched a 2Mpixel CMOS digital camera with variable focus liquid lens.
The two partners indicated that the codeveloped camera, dubbed IVIN-2M USB 2.0, features a CMOS imager with selectable display resolution from 320 X 240 at 30fps up to 1600 X 1200 at 15fps incorporating a progressive scan sensor with an electronic rolling shutter. It integrates Varioptic's variable focus liquid lens that is claimed to allow "close up" to infinity focus control done electronically with no moving parts, said the French company.
The IVIN-2M USB 2.0 targets applications such as biometrics (excluding iris identification), surveillance, security systems, vision applications and general imaging systems.
"Our objective is to provide innovative USB camera solutions to industrial manufacturers and Varioptic's liquid lens leads the way for autofocus solutions in this sector," declared David Birkner, President of IVA Corporation.
