Foundry provider Silterra Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. has invested $100 million in its phase 1 capacity expansion plan within its existing 200mm fab.

The expansion plan consists of 130nm and some 90nm capability, which is expected to bring Silterra's capacity to between 35,000 to 40,000 wafers per month depending on the product mix. The current process technologies are capable of mixed analog/digital, high-voltage, RF CMOS and low power, according to Silterra.

"We have quite a number of customers who have started many designs of significant volume with us over the past 9-to-12 months and we want to make sure that we deliver to their needs," said Kah Yee Eg, CEO of Silterra, in a statement.
