Clairvoyante displays offer PenTile backlight control

Clairvoyante Inc. will exhibit a variety of displays from several industry-leading licensees of its PenTile technology at the Flat Panel Display International 2007 conference on Oct. 24-26. Among the exhibits will be the industry's first wVGA, active-matrix OLED display, a 3.08-inch panel for the handheld market manufactured by Samsung SDI and made possible through the integration of PenTile Matrix technology.

Clairvoyante will also feature a variety of low temperate polysilicon (LTPS) and amorphous silicon (a-Si) displays including a Sony transflective VGA LTPS LCD display, Casio's 2.9-inch panels with dynamic backlight control and Hitachi's 2.5-inch VGA LTPS LCD.

An assortment of small qVGA and VGA displays in sizes ranging from 2.8 to 7 inchessome with widescreen formatsdeveloped by Clairvoyante technology partners, including BOE Hydis, AU Optronics, Chughwa Picture Tubes and Samsung SDI will also be shown.

The company will also display the latest driver ICs from manufacturers that have licensed Clairvoyante's technology, including the newest PenTile Matrix wide VGA driver chip from Tomato LSI running a Samsung SDI 4-inch PenTile RGBW wide VGA display module.

Clairvoyante will also demonstrate its PenTile Mode Control technology. These backlight control capabilities are said to significantly reduce power consumption in mobile displays. The technology features static modes for selecting either pure color or 50 percent power savings, as well as a dynamic mode that is content-dependent that offers variable power savings up to 65 percent. A CPT panel in bright color mode will be on display.
