Advantest Corp. is set to roll out in November a RF test solution for low-cost testing of multiport RF SoC devices used in cellular phones and other wireless products and equipment. The company claims the 12GWSGA 12GHz wideband signal generator/analyzer RF module is the industry's first RF test solution that is fully integrated with a single 12GHz module resident in the test head with high RF port density (32 per module) and multiple unique RF vectored sources and signal analyzers.

For use with Advantest's OPENSTAR T2000 test platform, the 12GHz WSGA RF module enables high-precision, flexible testing of RF SoC devices. Key features include 32 RF signal I/O ports per module (expandable to 128 ports with the installation of additional modules), and 16-device simultaneous testing of current mainstream RF devices, consisting of 4-to-8 ports. It also supports 4-device parallel testing or 16-port multiband RF devices.

The 12-port VSG offers a frequency range of 100MHz to 6GHz with a signal output of +8dBm to -120dBm and a modulation bandwidth of 40MHz. The 16-port VSA offers a frequency range of 100MHz to 12GHz with a signal input level of +17dBm and average noise floor of -153dBm/Hz.

The RF module also incorporates the company's newly developed high-speed Error Vector Magnitude test algorithm that offers enhanced repeatability. In addition, by using the T2000 12GHz WSGA module in combination with Advantest's existing 800Mbps digital, 500mA DPS and baseband waveform digitizer generator modules, all RF SoC device signal tests can be conducted on a single test system.
