ERNI Electronics has added new right-angled female connectors in 2, 3 and 4 contact pair versions to complement its ERmetZD range of straight male connectors and right-angled female connectors.
ERmetZD connectors were specially developed for differential high-speed signal transmission in telecom applications with data rates of up to 10Gbps. The devices utilize an optimal grid construction that reduces signal interference and offers more room for conductor track routing. The product family has bow been extended with new straight female connectors (4-pair version), evaluation kits and the ERmet ZD cable connector system. The components together encompass a complete high-speed connector portfolio specified for the ATCA, CompactPCI Express, and other industry standards.
The right-angled ERmet ZD male connectors in the 4-pair configuration (10 contact wafers, 80 signal contacts, module length 25mm) may be used as Zone 3 connectors (for backplane rear I/O) for the AdvancedTCA Standard together with the Zone 2 connector (right-angled ERmet ZD female connector for data transfer). When combined with ATCA Power Connectors (Zone 1), also available from ERNI, the company can now function as a one-stop shop for all connectors to meet ATCA design specifications.
The 3-pair and 2-pair versions of the right-angled ERmetZD male connectors are designed to supplement the 2mm HM product line (ERmet) for differential high-speed applications. ERNI offers a complete range of connectors for the CompactPCI Express standard that service both the signal (ERmet ZD 3-pair version, ERmet Type B8) and the Power side.
The new ERmetZD connectors are available with pressfit termination, two connection levels and three pressfit pin lengths suitable for a variety of board thicknesses. The L-shaped shield also provides excellent shielding and ensures stable mating in conjunction with the precentering pins. The layout supports installation with conventional 2mm HM connectors in compliance with IEC 061076-4-101.
