IC Insights reported a big shakeup in the top-10 semiconductor supplier rankings for Q3 2007. Intel Corp. and Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd remain as the world's first and second largest IC makers. But as shown in the table below, Toshiba Corp. moved past Texas Instruments Inc. and STMicroelectronics to become the third largest semiconductor supplier in the world, according to IC Insights.

The largest pure-play foundry in the world, TSMC, jumped one spot in Q3. If pure-play foundry TSMC were excluded from the ranking, NXP would move into the tenth position.

Meanwhile, Advanced Micro Devices Inc. moved into the top-10 ranking for the first time in its history.

TI, ST and Renesas were the only top-10 companies to register less than double-digit sequential sales growth rates. On the other hand, Freescale Semiconductor continues to feel the pain of its biggest customer, Motorola, as the company went from being ranked as the 9th largest semiconductor supplier in the world in 2006 to 16th in Q3.
