Perform power factor correction efficiently

In this article, a 300W power factor correction (PFC) circuit using ICE2PCS02 is presented. ICE2PCS02 is the second generation of Infineon's continuous conduction mode (CCM) PFC controllers, which use BiCMOS technology.

The ICE2PCS02 can meet the full requirements of PFC apps with a minimum number of peripheral components. To improve power-conversion efficiency, the CoolMOSTM C3 series and high-voltage silicon carbide (SiC) Schottky diode thinQ! are integrated in this boost-type PFC circuit.

ICE2PCS02 has lower internal reference than the previous generation of PFC controllers, trimmed at 3V to ensure precise protection and control levels. It features wider Vcc operating range, improved internal oscillator and additional direct bulk capacitor overvoltage protection, which lead to better performance and flexibility in design.
