Freescale Semiconductor has introduced three integrated pressure sensors, the MPXV7002, MPXV7007 and MPXV7025, designed to measure positive pressure and vacuum conditions. The sensors are ideal for a wide range of consumer, industrial, appliance, healthcare and automotive applications.

Based on microelectromechanical system (MEMS) technology, the MPXV7000 series pressure sensors measure pressure ranges up to 25KPa. Of particular interest to embedded designers, these highly adaptable pressure sensors can adjust to the requirements of positive and negative pressure readings as needed. With the offset hovering at 2.5V, system designers can easily mate this sensor with an MCU and immediately determine the pressure in the system. The temperature compensation and calibration capabilities of the MPXV7000 series are designed to simplify system development and help ensure high performance.

The MPXV7000 pressure sensor series provides a cost-effective way to measure pressure with real-time feedback and adjustment. To accommodate a perfect application fit, the sensors support a variety of package porting options including vertical, single-side and dual-side ports. From a manufacturing perspective, the sensors' SOP lends itself to high-volume production with a surface-mount option.

The MPXV7000 series features positive/negative pressure readings, 5 percent maximum error over 0C to 85C, ideally suited for microprocessor or MCU-based systems and patented silicon shear stress strain gauge. The devices also offer durable thermoplastic surface mount package and temperature compensated over -40C to 125C.

Suggested per-unit resale pricing in 10,000-piece quantities starts at $6.66 for MPXV7002 -2 to 2kPa (-0.3 to 0.3psi) and MPXV7025 -25 to 25kPa (-3.6 to 3.6psi). Meanwhile, MPXV7007 -7 to7kPa (-1 to 1psi) sells at $6.97. Devices are available in differential and gauge configurations.
