Maxim Integrated Products has introduced the MAX2165, a highly integrated, single-conversion tuner for DVB-H mobile TV applications. This tuner promises the industry's lowest external BOM in the smallest package by integrating all of the tuning functions along with an RF-tracking filter; LNA; transmit-reject notch filter; and programmable baseband, lowpass channel-selection filters into a small, 5mm x 5mm, 28-pin TQFN. High integration in a small package makes the MAX2165 ideal for cellphones and other handheld devices.

The MAX2165 consumes only 21mW of power at 8-percent duty cycle, covers a 470MHz to 780MHz UHF-signal range and operates from a single 2.85V supply. It is fully compliant with MBRAI and Nordig requirements, and is specified to operate over the -40C to 85C extended temperature range. Prices start at $4 (1,000-up, FOB USA). An evaluation kit and reference designs are available.
