The Suzhou Chinese Academy of Sciences Semiconductor Integration Research and Development Center, a spin-off of the CAS Institute of Semiconductors, has developed what is claimed to be the first WLAN IEEE802.11a/b/g + DVB-H RF chip, according to

As a WLAN, the chip can operate between 2.4- and 5.825GHz multi-mode frequency bands and supports DVB-H HD digital mobile TV and the existing analog TV. The RF chip is also claimed to consume nearly the same power as a single-functional device, the report said.

Researchers from the CAS Institute of Semiconductors, with the support of CAS Knowledge Innovation Program, started work on the WLAN chip on May 2004. After a year of research, the group made a progress in development of direct digital frequency synthesizer chips with synthesized clock frequency up to 2GHz, doubling the speed of similar products in the world at that time.
