Japanese recording tech specialist TEAC Corp. has purchased a Moore Microprocessor Patent (MMP) portfolio license from the TPL Group, according to the Patriot Scientific Corp.

"TEAC Corp. has always been known to produce the highest-quality, most technologically advanced products available," said Rick Schuette, VP for intellectual property at Alliacense. "This license agreement is a great validation of the role that MMP portfolio technologies have played in advancing a broad range of successful companies who are leaders in their respective fields."

Since January 2006, more than 20 companies have licensed the MMP portfolio, among which are Sony Corp., Casio Computer Co. Ltd, Fujitsu Ltd, Nikon, Seiko Epson and Nokia.

The MMP portfolio contains IP that is jointly owned by the privately held TPL Group and publicly held Patriot Scientific Corp. The portfolio includes seven U.S. patents as well as their European and Japanese counterparts. It is becoming widely recognized that these patents protect fundamental technology used in designing microprocessors, MCUs, DSPs, embedded processors and SoC devices.
